Stickle Bricks
One of my earliest memories is of stickle bricks. I remember being taken to play group at about 2 years old and being astounded by the stickle bricks that they had for the children to play with. For a young child the bricks were easy to stick together and as the manufacturers had the foresight to provide axles and wheels, children soon build their first stickle brick car!
I always wanted my own set of stickle bricks, but sadly I never reached the dizzy heights of ownership, instead having to rely on friends, play group and subsequently my first few years at school.
Years later, now with my own children, I started looking for my favourite childhood toy and was thoroughly disappointed to find so few toy shops stocking stickle bricks anymore. Many toy shops I visited on my travels told me they were not being manufactured anymore.
Thankfully stickle bricks are still being manufactured, although not in the same volume or variety that they one were. However, despite the relatively small range, I have put together a list of the products available today along with links to the retailers that sell them. You can see the full range of products here.

After far too long a period where I was unable to locate any source of stickle bricks, I’m pleased to announce that there is a new supplier for my favourite childhood toy.
Despite my searching, I haven’t been able to find a source of stickle bricks anywhere on the high street, even in specialist boutique toy stores. Much to my chagrin, the limited range of online stickle bricks stockists in the UK have sold out. It looks like the Christmas demand exhausted the supplies that retailers had available.
I have also heard some rumours that Stickle Bricks are being sidelined as the new owners, Hasbro also make the direct competitor Clipo. I have made a number of enquiries since Christmas, but as yet I have not received any concrete answer regarding the future of stickle bricks.

I have recently been asked this question via email, specifically in the context of a 3 year old child. This is a question I know I can answer with authority as my 3 year old daughter loves stickle bricks (actually so does her 8 month old sister – but that’s another story).

Stickle bricks are a great learning aid for young children but perhaps most importantly they are a great toy as well. With even a small amount of structure to their play, children can improve motor skills, learn basic construction techniques and experience creative play.
